About the Event
Heartly House, one of MCASA's member programs, is hosting its 2nd annual survivor-led online panel event titled CAPES: Community Awareness Promoting Empowerment for Survivors. Â This event will center the emotional and psychological impacts of disclosing and seeking help for male survivors of childhood sexual abuse, and address the need to expand community outreach efforts to male survivors and their families. Heartly House aims to include information that will educate communities and organizations on the importance of being trauma-informed and compassion-focused for male survivors. This survivor-centered awareness event acknowledges identified survivors and those who are remaining silent in the hopes that we can work together for the survivors' journey to healing and to end this abuse in Maryland.
Heartly House is the only organization in Frederick County, Maryland, that provides comprehensive services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and child abuse. They have been providing these services since 1979. Heartly House continues to expand its outreach activities to include adult males impacted by childhood sexual abuse.
