Virtual Town Hall Meeting with Senator Chris Van Hollen

We are seeing the effects of the climate crisis. If we are to avoid the most harmful impacts of climate change, we must quickly adopt policies that will lower emissions and transition us to a clean energy economy.

And that’s why I’ve joined the Conservation Voter Movement and am excited to work to pass the American Jobs Plan: a federal recovery package that centers climate ambition, jobs, and justice.

The American Jobs Plan is a transformational 10-year proposal that will invest billions to address the needs of communities of color and low-income communities that have borne the brunt of climate change, and create millions of good-paying union jobs.

At the Town Hall, Senator Van Hollen will share how the American Jobs Plan will put millions of people, including Marylanders from across the state, to work by making major investments in infrastructure, while also speeding up our transition to clean energy. Senator Van Hollen and Maryland LCV want to hear from you in this conversation! Register for the Virtual Town Hall here; when you sign up you can submit a question for Senator Van Hollen.

In Maryland, 83% of voters across the state support the American Jobs Plan, 83% think it’s important that Congress takes action to address climate change, 85% support investments in clean energy jobs, and 78% support ensuring the benefits of climate and clean energy investments go to the environmental justice communities long exploited by polluters according to recent polling.

That’s an overwhelming majority of Marylanders saying yes to the American Jobs Plan. We can do this together.

Join Senator Van Hollen and Maryland LCV on June 22 to learn about the American Jobs Plan and how you can help make it a reality.

I hope to see you there,

Kai Mateo, Federal Climate Campaign Manager
