The Woodlawn Library is now in the stage of gathering important community feedback to really give the community what they want and need in their library. Please check out the attached flier. It includes a link to a survey for High Schoolers (since Woodlawn High is right in our backyard) as well as other community members. Additionally, it includes information about community feedback sessions the library is hosting next Thursday, March 2nd. They would love to see you there! Please share with family, friends, and neighbors. For more information, please contact the Woodlawn Branch of the Baltimore County Public Library.

Community Awareness

2/23/2023

Baltimore County Police Department

Greetings Community Members,

Baltimore County continues to see an increase of automobile thefts targeting Hyundai and Kia vehicles. The Baltimore County Police have launched a Public Safety campaign for Hyundai owners. Please click on the link below to see free anti-theft software upgrades offered through Hyundai and Kia and also the access to free steering wheel locks.

The National Insurance Crime Bureau emphasizes that professional thieves can steal any car but advises owners to take a layered approach to protect their vehicles, in line with their budget and perception of risk. Along with steering-wheel, brake-pedal, brake and wheel locks, it’s possible to install fuse cutoffs and kill switches as well as aftermarket immobilizer systems.

Please be vigilant of suspicious subjects or vehicles roaming through the neighborhoods. If you notice any suspicious activity, safely get a good description of the subjects and contact 911.

If you would like to be added or removed from the Pikesville Precinct email list, please email Officer Larry Stallings at lstallings@baltimorecountymd.gov. For Woodlawn Precinct, email Officer Kristie Makowiecki at kmakowiecki@baltimorecountymd.gov.

YOU ARE THE EYES AND EARS OF THE COMMUNITY.

Scholarships are now available for residents of the Maryland 44B District. Delegate Aletheia McCaskill, one of our newly elected members of the Maryland House of Delegates, believes that part of her responsibility is to offer opportunities for our community whenever possible. Delegate McCaskill, who is an advocate of quality education, states:

"Having proper education and instruction is a gateway to prosperity. Part of my philosophy of education, is that education serves many purposes; it builds character and connects us to the unknown. Yes, to some degree, education can lead to financial prosperity. But the measure of wealth can truly be defined by an individual's character. Education should develop a person holistically, so that we can live in tolerance and fairness and not hostility and ridicule. I'm wishing you all the absolute best with your educational endeavors!"
